Respect for water quality

The quality of a lake’s water remains the key to its health as an ecosystem. It is also one of the aspects that makes it attractive to residents and visitors. In general, all users of the lake must undertake to:

  • Protect the natural vegetation of the land on a strip of land as stipulated according to the rules of the City of St-Sauveur, it being understood that deforestation near the lake impairsthecooling andoxygenation of the lake and decreases the filtering power of the riparian strip.

  • Refrain from applying chemical fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, and other products harmful to water quality or land; so-called natural fertilizers and compost should also be refrained from spreading them because they contain phosphorus that may enrich the lake in the same way as chemical fertilizers.

  • As a courtesy, notify your immediate neighbours at parties or events that may be noisier than usual.

  • Prefer the use of gasoline-powered devices ideally from Monday to Friday between 9:00 and 17:00, or Saturday morning from 9:00 to 12:00.

  • Control your pets to avoid experiencing their untimely and continuous barking.

  • Avoid the use of fireworks, especially since they also affect the quality of the lake′s water.

  • Respect the tranquility and privacy of neighbors.

  • Stay at a safe distance from swimmers and let them travel on the lake with boats or floating docks.

  • Keep dogs on the land of its owner and put them on a leash when walking; collect their excrement to dispose of it properly, regardless of the season of the year, but especially on the lake in winter.

  • Refrain from using lights of too high intensity in the evening and directing the beam in such a way as to reduce their reflection on the surface of the lake so as not to ″blind″ other residents and not to attenuate the splendor of the starry sky.
